Dear Parent or Guardian,
We continue to have influenza like symptoms in our district. Influenza (also known as flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat and lungs. Flu symptoms can include, fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, and sometimes vomiting or diarrhea in children. Some people with the flu will not have a fever.
A person can be contagious approximately two days before symptoms develop and 5-7 days once symptoms appear. If your child is demonstrating flu-like symptoms, it is best to see your family doctor to get a professional recommendation as to next steps along with a recommended amount of time to keep your child home from school.
The health department was notified today and encourage our continued efforts: students to stay home during the contagious period, frequent disinfecting, and proper handwashing education.
We continue to disinfect frequently used surfaces in our school district and continue to educate on proper handwashing and coughing technique in the classroom.
Please call your school district administer and/or our district nurse with any questions or concerns.
