WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires Smart Choices Scholarship

  • The Dairy Farmers of Washington and Les Schwab Tires in conjunction with the WIAA proudly present the Smart Choices Scholarship Program. 
  • This annual program recognizes one male and one female graduating senior from among the WIAA member high schools for excellence in athletics/activities, academics, leadership and community service throughout his and her high school career. 
  • Smart Choices winners receive a $5,000 scholarship toward the institution of his and her choosing.  An additional eight (8) finalists receive $1,000 scholarships.
  • In addition to a series of background questions, each applicant will be required to write an essay or provide a personal statement video about “How you plan to use your education to benefit others.”  The judging criteria is based on 35% athletic/activity excellence, 35% academic achievement, 15% leadership, 10% citizenship/community service, and five% on originality/creativity of the student’s essay or video.
  • Applications can be submitted online at wiaa.com/smartchoices between NOVEMBER 1, 2019 and APRIL 12020 (the “Application Period”).  Complete and submit the Application Form by following the instructions provided.

Swauk-Teanaway Grange Trades Scholarship

  • The Grange supports the preparation of high school graduates in Kittitas County for employment in trades such as plumbing, construction--electrical, sheet rock, iron work, graphics, culinary, cosmetology--programs that can be taken at a technical school, community college, or even proprietary schools.
  • Open to all Seniors in Kittitas County
  • An interest in developing job preparation skills for a trade upon graduation
  • Community, volunteer, and/or school involvement, including leadership experiences

KITTITAS COUNTY CATTLEWOMEN MEMORIAL FUND SCHOLARSHIP

  • Awarded to a female kittitas County High School senior who is enrolled full time at a trade school, technical school, community college or university for the academic year of 2019/2020. She must plan for a major or minor in an agricultural related field.
  • Information on how to apply is in the high school Career Center.

Yakima Valley Construction Federation (Yakima Plan Center)

  • Each year the Yakima Valley Construction Federation presents  scholarships to eligible students in Central Washington.  
  • Each scholarship is awarded to a deserving graduate who is preparing for their career in the Construction Industry.
  • Scholarship Applications are available at www.yakimaplancenter.com under Yakima Valley Construction Federation Scholarship. Applications are also in the high school career center.

Eastern Washington Quarter Horse Association

The Eastern Washington Quarter horse Association is offering one, $1000.00 scholarship for post-secondary education or vocational training to graduating seniors in Kittitas County; or a previous graduate from Kittitas County who is already entolled in an accredited two or four year collegeor university or technical insitute.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • An accumulative High School or college grade point average of 2.5 or better.
  • Be a resident of Kittitas County
  • Plan on attending college or technical school the coming fall term.
  • Been involved in horse related acrivities sometime within the past six years.

ESA Youth Scholarship Program

  • The Electronic Security Association of Washington is pleased to announce scholarship awards to children of active duty fire and police personnel.
  • The electronic security industry works intimately with the public safety sector. We appreciate the contribution that police, firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs offer to our communities. To show this appreciation, the program was developed to provide college scholarship awards to their deserving sons or daughters.

Yakima Federal “Award for Academic Excellence”

Recognizing high academic achievers graduating from high school and a resident in Benton, Franklin, Kittitas or Yakima County. Though this is not a perpetual program, it has been reinstated for this year. This year again we are granting a considerable number of $2,000 awards based on the following criteria:

  • Top ten percent of graduating class; (Check with counseling office to see if you qualify and pick up appliction information).
  • Community Service and Leadership activity within and outside the school environment;
  • One-page Letter of Motivation outlining future plans, school and life experiences, including any challenges faced and overcome, the impact of receiving an award plus any additional information to support their selection for an award;
  • Two letters of recommendation;
  • Statement signed by school official indicating anticipated class rank.
  • Deadline for receipt of applications is April 10, 2020.

The Annual Howard Kelleher Memorial Scholarship

  • MERIT Resource Services is offering four $1000.00 scholarships in honor of Howard Kelleher's lifetime achievements to deserving essay winners within the agency's service area (two in the Yakima County, one in Benton-Franklin Counties, one in Kittitas County and a final one to the next highest scoring individual regardless of county of residence).   
  • The scholarship will be awarded based on a competitive composition entitled "How big of a problem are alcohol and drugs in your School, how does it affect your community, and what can be done about it?"

Cle Elum Masonic Lodge

  • The Cle Elum Masons are proud to offer a scholarship to a graduating senior from Upper Kittitas County. The Masons support the notion that an educated society is good for civil discourse and democracy. They believe that hard working, dedicated young people should have the opportunity to succeed, even if they have financial barriers.

Kittitas County Roping Club Scholarship

  • The Kittitas county roping Club (KCRC) is proud to awarad scholarship opportunities to enable our youth to further excel in their future career through continuing education.
  • All applicants must submit a conpleted KCRC Scholarship Application by April 15th, 2020
  • Essay Topic: What one experience through the Kittitas County Roping Club, or other equine related activity , do you feel had the biggest impact on your life? Why?

Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. 1020 scholarships at up to $2,500 each

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential)
  • Will be enrolled in eligible program in Fall 2020
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States
  • Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
  • Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Be under the age of 30
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.  All scholarship funds are paid directly to the institution on behalf of the recipient.

SeaMar Farmworker College Scholarship

  • To be eligible to apply to this scholarship, you must:
  • Be a high school senior or a high school/GED graduate who has not yet attended college.
  •  ou have worked as a farmworker* or are currently working as farmworker.. If you have not worked as a farmworker but your parent/legal guardian works or has worked as a farmworker, you are still eligible.
  • Enrolling in a higher education institute for the 2020-21 academic year.
  • Be a Washington state resident. HB 1079 students are also eligible.

  • Offering a $500 Scholarship to a Kittitas county student who is interested in going into the medical field.
  • Doesn't have to be a medical school.
  • The Society is interested in supporting studnets going into any part of the medical field

WSADA Bright Future Scholarship

  • Washington’s new car and truck dealers have worked hard to grow their businesses and are great employers who give back to their communities.  A career as a dealership employee and/or automotive technician offers a bright future with outstanding opportunities and benefits, and we encourage you to consider employment at a new car and truck dealership as you complete your training and educational programs.
  • Students enrolling or currently enrolled in an automotive technology program in Washington State are eligible to apply for this scholarship. In addition, high school seniors who are an employee of a WSADA-member dealership, or an immediate family member of a WSADA-member dealership employee are also eligible.

Community Foundation of Kittitas County

  • The Community Foundation of Kittitas County offers a toal of 5 scholarships valued at One Thousand Dollars ($1,000 each) to high school graduates from within Kittitas County.
  • Mut be a enrolled full time in a Kittitas County High School with a minimum of a 3.00 GPA.
  • Must exhibit good character, morals and should be involved in community service activities outside the high school environment.

PEO Chapter DN Scholarships

  • PEO is offering a Helen Michaelson Scholarship for $500 is in memory of Helen Michaelson, who developed the Home Economics program at Central Washington University. Available to a 2021 graduating senior woman.
