Youth Services of Kittitas County Mentor Program
Youth Services Mentoring Program envisions a community in which every youth experiences nurturing one-to-one relationships and community support, which in turn, allows each of them to develop into their full potential, capable of making informed, responsible decisions as involved members of our community.
Community-Based Mentor Program
Adult volunteers meet 1 to 2 hours weekly with their mentees one-on-one in the greater Ellensburg community. Whether it’s throwing a ball, baking cookies, or playing board games at a local coffee shop, the focus is always on the friendship. Children in this program range from ages 5-17. Although we request a minimum of a 12 month commitment, many of our volunteers have continued in their friendships for much longer. Please download application here.
Lunch-Time Mentor Program
Adult volunteers commit to meet during lunch-time for a full school-year (9 months) with their young friends on school grounds at Kittitas Elementary, Thorp Elementary, Valley View Elementary, Mt. Stuart Elementary and Lincoln Elementary. Children range from kindergarten to 5th grade and enjoy spending time with their adult friends engaging in diverse activities, including reading, board games, sports, tag, and art projects. Even though all contact takes place at school, there are no specific academic goals to achieve—the focus is simply on developing a friendship. Please download application here.
