Early Learning Round-Up: A Strong Start for Our Youngest Learners

Each year, our district looks forward to one of our most meaningful events—the Early Learning Round-Up. This annual event serves as both a screening opportunity and an entry point for families to enroll in our early learning programs, helping ensure that every child gets the strong start they deserve.

We are proud to offer a continuum of early learning opportunities to meet the diverse needs of our youngest learners. Our district currently hosts two preschool classrooms serving students who qualify through ECEAP or who have identified developmental delays. In addition, we offer three Transitional Kindergarten classrooms designed to provide students with an added boost as they prepare for kindergarten the following year.

What truly makes our early learning programs exceptional is our incredible team. Our classrooms are led by dedicated certificated teachers and supported by outstanding paraeducators and specialized staff. This includes our speech and language team, occupational therapy team, and behavior support team—each playing a critical role in ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive.

This year’s Early Learning Round-Up was especially impactful thanks to the strong partnerships we share within our community. We extend our sincere gratitude to Community Health of Central Washington (CHCW) from Ellensburg for bringing their new mobile medical and dental RV clinic. Their team provided on-site vaccinations and helped families connect with primary care providers—an invaluable service for our community.

We also want to thank Kittitas County Fire District 7 for their continued partnership. Firefighters welcomed families with tours, handed out goody bags, and gave children the unforgettable experience of climbing into a real fire truck—bringing both joy and connection to the event.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our amazing school staff who came together to screen over 50 early learning students. Their dedication and care ensure that we are setting each child up for success from the very beginning.

The Early Learning Round-Up is more than an event—it’s a reflection of what is possible when schools, families, and community partners come together to support children and families. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve our youngest learners and look forward to another great year ahead!
