The Cle Elum-Roslyn School District is proud to recognize two exceptional students who have been nominated for this month’s School Board Awards. These students have shown remarkable dedication, growth, and leadership in their learning journeys.
Skylar Smith, 12th Grade (Swiftwater Learning Center) - Skylar exemplifies the true Warrior Spirit through her resilience, determination, and perseverance. Over the past year, she has shown tremendous leadership and compassion while helping along side the WSMS Prevention Club. Skylar approaches every challenge with a positive attitude and an unwavering commitment to growth, both personally and in school.
Ethan Bainter, 12th Grade (Swiftwater Learning Center) - Ethan is an outstanding example of leadership, advocacy, and community engagement. Ethan has been a strong advocate for substance-use prevention within the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District, actively participating in the high school prevention club and testifying before congress last year in support of a flavored-nicotine ban. He is active in the community, including interning with the Cle Elum Downtown Association, volunteering his time & participating in activities at the Teen Shop, and recently beginning to attend the Cascade Prevention Coalition meetings. To stay informed about the proposed vape-shop location across from the Teen Center, Ethan has been attending Cle Elum City Council meetings and offering thoughtful public comment. He is a friend to everyone he meets and continually strives to create positive change for his peers and the broader youth community in Cle Elum, especially in the area of substance-use prevention. Ethan embodies the Warrior Spirit, a student leader who stands by his convictions and inspires others through his dedication to a healthier, stronger community.
Congratulations to Skylar and Ethan! Your commitment and achievements inspire us all.
