Horatio Alger Career & Technical Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their lives who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential)

  • Have at least half of your program remaining, with a graduation date no earlier than May 2023.

  • Cannot be taking pre-requisite courses and must be enrolled in your program

  • Must be enrolled full-time by Fall 2022 to be eligible.

  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States

  • Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)

  • Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity

  • Be under the age of 30

  • Be a United States citizen

Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies.  All scholarship funds are paid directly to the institution on behalf of the recipient.

KVJSA Scholarship

  • Description: Kittitas Valley Junior Soccer Association (KVJSA) and Ellensburg Football Club (EFC) are proud to offer the KVJSA Scholarship. Our $500 scholarships are awarded to deserving students who have been actively involved in KVJSA, KVJSA Pumas, or Ellensburg FC in order to support their post-high-school career goals. Up to two scholarships will be awarded per year.

  • Applications are available in the Career Center.

  • Deadline: June 1, 2022

Scholarships for Career & Technical Programs from WSOS (Washington State Opportunity Scholarships)

  • The Career & Technical Scholarship provides up to $1,500 each quarter towards certificates, apprenticeships and associate degrees in the trades, STEM and health care at Washington's 34 community and technical colleges.

  • Applicants for the scholarship must meet all of the following criteria:


  • Be a Washington state resident as defined by the state.

  • Earn a high school diploma or GED from a Washington state institution before the application deadline.


  • File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) for the relevant academic year by the application deadline.

  • Apply for Federal Education Tax Credits, if eligible.

  • Have a family income at or below 125% of Washington state median family income based on family size.


  • Plan to enroll in an eligible program for the upcoming term.

  • Plan to enroll at an eligible Washington state community or technical college for the upcoming term.

  • Do not intend to earn a bachelor's degree after completion of your program.

  • Plan to enroll in at least six credits every term. Scholars are not required to enroll in summer term.


  • Do not have a bachelor’s degree.
