We are excited to announce several new course offerings that will be available beginning next school year for Walter Strom Middle School and Cle Elum-Roslyn High School. These additions reflect our ongoing commitment to providing students with meaningful learning experiences that support academic growth, career exploration, leadership development, and life readiness.
Walter Strom Middle School
Wildcat Way
All 7th-grade students will participate in Wildcat Way, a series of four quarter-long courses that are part of the 7th-grade exploratory wheel. These courses focus on leadership development and essential 21st-century skills, helping students strengthen communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and personal responsibility.
American Sign Language (ASL) Exploratory
This new exploratory course introduces students to the basics of American Sign Language while fostering an appreciation for Deaf culture and communication.
Robotics Exploratory
Students will explore the exciting field of robotics through hands-on projects that encourage creativity, innovation, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Cle Elum-Roslyn High School
Warrior 101, 102, 103, and 104
Developed from the district's Portrait of a Graduate work completed in December, these semester-long courses focus on the skills and knowledge our community believes every student should possess before graduation. Topics include financial literacy, digital literacy, scholarship applications, job searches, interview preparation, apartment renting, and other essential life skills.
Health Occupations
Students interested in healthcare careers will explore a variety of professions within the health and medical fields while gaining a better understanding of opportunities available in this growing industry.
Fitness Tech
This innovative physical education course allows students to explore the requirements and skills associated with earning a fitness trainer certification. Students will learn about fitness principles, exercise programming, and healthy lifestyles.
Power Mechanics
Students will gain hands-on experience with small engines while learning the fundamentals of mechanical systems, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Introduction to Outdoor Education
Students can earn English credit while participating in outdoor education experiences that connect literacy skills with real-world learning and environmental exploration.
Bio Med
This science-credit course combines the study of human biology with exploration of medical careers, giving students insight into both scientific concepts and healthcare professions.
Art Appreciation
Offered through a partnership with Central Washington University, this course allows students to earn college art credit while exploring various art forms, artistic movements, and the stories that have shaped art throughout history.
Expanding Athletic Opportunities
In addition to these new academic offerings, we are excited to announce that Boys Soccer will be added to the Cle Elum-Roslyn High School athletic program beginning in the spring of 2027. This new program will provide students with another opportunity to compete, build teamwork skills, and represent the Warriors on the field.
These new courses and programs are designed to expand opportunities for our students, helping them discover new interests, explore future careers, earn college credit, develop practical life skills, and prepare for success beyond graduation.
