Dear Students, Parents, and Community Members,
We can’t wait to welcome our amazing students and families back to a year filled with meaningful and engaging learning! Together with our incredibly talented and dedicated staff, we continue to realize our vision and mission in partnership with our school community.
Our Guiding Principles
Our Vision: Walter Strom Middle School is a place where all individuals are known by name and individual strength, and will achieve at high levels in a safe and supportive environment.
Our Mission: All students achieve at grade level or higher through strategic collaboration in order to provide meaningful and engaging learning.
Expanding Opportunities & Connecting to Regional Careers
As we look ahead to the upcoming school year, we are excited to build on the opportunities within our Mission to deliver hands-on, engaging learning experiences. Last year, we successfully introduced popular exploratory classes such as Fly Fishing (Outdoor Education), Flight and Math, and Financial Literacy.
This year, as we further refine our Secondary Learning Model, we are thrilled to announce an expanded roster of exploratory classes for 7th and 8th graders, including:
Intro to Robotics
Electric Motors
Intro to Power Mechanics
Spanish
American Sign Language (ASL)
Wildcat 101
Importantly, these new offerings represent an intentional step in our long-term vision: aligning secondary programming with the high-demand career pathways across our region. By giving students early exposure to practical technology, trade mechanics, modern engineering, and global languages, we are helping them connect classroom concepts to real-world regional industries. Whether exploring local natural resources, technical trades, or emerging industries, our goal is to help every student identify their individual strengths and explore future career interests right here in our community.
Maximizing Opportunities & Shared Facilities
To deliver these advanced opportunities, some of the programming for 7th and 8th graders will take place across both the Middle School and High School facilities.
This shared layout provides our students with:
Greater access to specialized learning spaces and advanced coursework.
Deeper exploration into specific areas of student interest.
Optimized staffing, allowing us to utilize our talented educators effectively while remaining great stewards of our community’s resources in a fiscally responsible way.
Indeed, we are thrilled for the new school year, our expanded learning pathways, and having our students back with us. We cannot wait for September 8!
See you soon!
Mr. Chase
Walter Strom Middle School Principal
