Cle Elum-Roslyn High School will be moving its 2026 graduation ceremony from Saturday, June 6th, at 2:00 p.m. to Friday, June 5th, at 7:30 p.m.
The decision was made after collecting input from parents, students, and community members. Concerns were raised about afternoon’s heat, conflicts with Central Washington University’s graduation, and limited time for senior party preparations.
A survey was sent to all senior parents, with 41 responses received—34 of those (82%) preferred moving graduation to Friday evening. A separate survey was sent to all seniors, and 30 students responded, with 28 (93%) in favor of the change.
Because the number of senior survey responses was small, a follow-up senior meeting was held. Of the 68 seniors that attend CERHS, roughly 50 to 60 students attended, and all but two students voted to move graduation to Friday at 7:30 p.m. Informal conversations with parents also showed strong support for the change.
The decision to move graduation allows for cooler temperatures, more time for senior celebrations, and flexibility for families attending college or university graduations on Saturday. The ceremony will also take advantage of the forested stadium backdrop, creating a scenic setting for the event.
The Cle Elum-Roslyn School District appreciates the collaboration and feedback from its families and community in making this decision and looks forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 on Friday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m.
