Band students sitting in a theater

Our CERHS concert band made history at the Yakima Valley Music Education Association High School Band Festival at Highland High School!

Not only did they receive the highest score in the program’s history (94 out of 100), they also received a ranking of "Superior" for the fourth year in a row. AND, for the first time in recorded history, the Warrior band was awarded the highest score out of all participating high school bands in our region (regardless of school size).

Other participating bands included Ellensburg (2 bands), Eisenhower (2 bands), Goldendale, Grandview, Highland, Selah, West Valley (2 bands), and White Swan.

The music program would like to thank the CERSD school district, families, and community for their amazing support, and give special thanks to our sponsors: the CERSD Education Foundation, Suncadia Resort, and Cle Elum Hardware. Thanks to the CWU Music Education department for helping coach our students. Thank you CERHS teachers for encouraging our music students to participate in these festivals, even though it means missing your class for the day!

If you'd like to see our award-winning bands, please put our annual Jazz CafĂ© Gala (May 13) on your calendar. Join us for an evening of live music featuring the CERHS jazz band, jazz combo, and the Ellensburg Big Band. There will also be silent auctions, raffles, and more. We are looking for local sponsors to help with this fundraiser - if you or your business are interested in sponsoring our award winning music department, please reach out to Mr. Maupoux (maupouxn@cersd.org).
