IMPORTANT: Middle School Football and Cross Country at Goldendale, cancelled due to air quality. We received notice at last second from Goldendale. Please adjust your transportation arrangements for your student. Volleyball is on schedule and will play at Mt. Adams today as previously scheduled.

Please note the information below regarding our upcoming Veteran’s Day Assembly as well as our Annual Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest PATRIOT’S PEN ESSAY CONTEST: The Annual Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest is sponsored by our local VFW Post 1373. There are 3 winners selected for each grade level. They will be announced and honored at our Annual Veteran’s Day Assembly, Thursday, November 10. The forms were sent home with your student’s ELA Teacher. The deadline is October 31. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s ELA Teacher or the M.S. Office (509-649-4700). The Volleyball game at Goldendale has been cancelled for today, Monday, October 15, due to a bus driver shortage. The team will still practice from 3:00-4:30 today in the MS gym. Parents, please adjust your transportation plans for your player.

Congratulations to Mr. Dale Sweet, Walter Strom Middle School 6th Grade Science Teacher. On September 22, Mr. Sweet went to Olympia to receive his award as the Pacific Education Instute's Washington State Field STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) Teacher of the Year. Did you know we expanded our Woodshop class this year? Our Skilled and Technical Sciences Teacher, Mr. Ellithorpe has CERHS courses that he teaches in the morning and WSMS courses he teaches in the afternoon. Mr. Ellithorpe recently graduated from CWU with an education degree in Career and Technical Education. He has lived in our community for some time and was SO excited to become a Warrior and build a robust program! You might recognize him as he drove the HopeSource bus and worked at the hardware store before joining our district. In his free time, Mr. Ellithorpe says he enjoys "tinkering" and being an active member of our community.
