Important Notice: Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) for HS & MS Students

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This fall, our schools will be participating in the Healthy Youth Survey (HYS). Youth in Washington State have been taking the HYS since 2002, and participation has grown from just a few thousand to over 215,000 students each year.

The survey asks about important topics that affect our youth, including:

  • How youth are doing in school and in their daily lives

  • Social relationships and connections

  • Mental health and well-being

  • Substance use

  • Risks for injury and safety concerns

The results from the HYS help communities, schools, districts, and public health agencies better understand the needs of young people. The data informs policies and programs designed to support student health, safety, and success. It is also an important way for youth to share their voices and guide the future of our state.

Survey Dates:

  • High School: October 16, 2025

  • Middle School: October 20, 2025

Participation Information:

  • The survey is voluntary. Students may skip any question they are not comfortable answering.

  • Families may choose to opt their student out of participating.

  • Students who are opted out will remain in class and participate in an alternative reflection activity focused on current student health and safety topics.

Your youth’s participation is greatly valued and helps ensure we have accurate, meaningful information to support our students and community. Please take a moment to talk with your youth about the survey and decide together if they will participate.

For more information, please review the attached Healthy Youth Survey Fact Sheet, which provides additional details. If you would like to preview the survey questions, copies are available online at www.AskHYS.net or through the district.

Thank you for supporting your students and for helping us strengthen youth health and well-being.

This Fall Session begins October 3rd, on Fridays and select Tuesdays. The Session is $190, registration $30, and uniforms $45. Location of practices will be at the Roslyn Gym (208 W. Idaho Ave). To register or ask questions, contact Misty Favero at (509) 304-4851.

Yearbook Night

Dear Families,
Soon, many of the ParentSquare text messages you get from our school will come from regular 10-digit phone numbers. This will make it easier to see who is messaging you. For example, a message from your child’s teacher will come from a different phone number than a message from the school office.

What’s changing?
Right now, most texts come from a 5-digit number. Soon, you’ll start getting texts from different regular 10-digit phone numbers for:

  • Direct messages

  • Classroom and group posts

  • School posts

Messages from the district, digests and alerts will still come from the 5-digit number.

What should you do?
When you receive a message from one of these new 10-digit numbers, save it to your contacts. Here are some suggestions:

  • Save a teacher’s number as: Ms. Davis - 4th Grade

  • Save classroom/group posts as: Lincoln Elementary Classes

  • Save school posts number as: Lincoln Elementary Updates
