This school year flew by, and what an incredible year it was for outdoor learning at CERSD! We’re so grateful for the opportunity to partner with Washington Outdoor School (WOS).
Students enrolled in the nature-based After-School Program at the Elementary School enjoyed explorations of the forest behind the school where they enjoyed Doug fir lemonade and tea with their snacks, named their favorite places, participated in seasonal scavenger hunts and crafting, played nature bingo, and always ended the day with a sharing circle.
The Mobile Explorer Program, made possible with a grant from the Kittitas Stewardship Fund, was offered at the Middle School this spring. Students participating enjoyed observing the trees, identifying plants and studying Native American uses of plants, identifying animals, building nature art, taking photographs, drinking Doug Fir tea, writing poems, hiking, laughing and creating.
We love these great additional opportunities for hands-on learning for our students, and look forward to continued partnership with WOS in the fall!
