The IDEA Project

In recognition of National Disability Awareness Month, the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District proudly welcomed The IDEA Project, a Washington-based organization dedicated to promoting understanding, empathy, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

This week, our kindergarten through fifth grade students participated in hands-on, interactive stations designed to simulate what it might feel like to live with various disabilities such as vision, communication, learning, and motor challenges. The stations offered students an opportunity to deepen their understanding of how people experience the world differently—and how empathy and inclusion make our school community stronger.

A special thank you to the Walter Strom Middle School Leadership students, who supported the event by facilitating the stations and guiding elementary students through each experience. Their leadership helped make this an impactful and memorable learning opportunity for all.

We are grateful to The IDEA Project for bringing this powerful program to our district and to our staff for their continued commitment to ensuring every student feels seen, valued, and included.
