Dear Families and Staff,
I am deeply saddened to see the violence that occurred yesterday in Washington, D.C.
This is yet another event to compound a year of change, upheaval, sickness and stress that challenges our coping skills.
Our community is a microcosm of our country, and I know we have different political beliefs throughout our schools, families, staff and community. I anticipate those differences may become more obvious in the coming days as yesterday’s events are discussed and analyzed on television and social media.
No matter our political beliefs, please be aware that events of this magnitude can trigger strong emotions in us, our friends and our students.
At times like these our children need us and we need each other to be reassured that we will get through this as a community and a country. If you are unsure how to talk about this with your child, please reach out to our building counselors for resources and support.
As I reflect on yesterday’s events, I am reminded of a quote by President George W. Bush, who said, “Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream.” Please take care of yourself and your families.
