Free Summer Meals & Sun Bucks Program

There are two great ways to save money and make sure your child eats healthy this summer:

  1. Free Summer Meals are available for every kid, 18 and under, at schools, parks and other community locations in your neighborhood.

  2. Sun Bucks is a new program that pays $120 in food benefits for every eligible child in your family, which can be used to purchase groceries during the summer months.

Sun Bucks Program

SUN Bucks, also known as Summer EBT, is a federal program that supports families who lose access to free school meals over the summer months. Families will receive an allotment of $120 for each eligible child to help cover the cost of groceries when school is out of session. Similar to SNAP (Basic Food), SUN Bucks can be used to buy food at grocery stores, farmers markets, and other locations.

SUN Bucks works in tandem with the Free Summer Meals program to support families when school meals are unavailable.

**SUN Bucks benefits are mailed to either the address on file with DSHS or your school. Make sure your address is up to date so your SUN Bucks benefits are sent to the right place!
