January and February Board Award Nominees

Congratulations to our January and February Board Award recipients (pictured left to right): Grady Einwalter, Anna Lau-Woodrow, Hayden Case, Mercydees Bryant, Spencer Travis, Dion Albert, Jacob Gherbaz, Parker Amdur, and Vicente Cortez. These students were selected for exemplifying personal growth, perseverance, and positive character. Each has demonstrated determination, kindness, leadership, or meaningful contributions that reflect the values of our schools.

January Nominees

Grady Einwalter – 2nd Grade

Grady Einwalter approaches learning with enthusiasm and determination. Known for embracing challenges, particularly in mathematics, Grady thoughtfully works through complex problems by reflecting on what he knows and selecting effective strategies. He makes a point to record his thinking and learn from mistakes, demonstrating maturity and persistence well beyond his grade level. His positive attitude toward learning not only drives his own success but also encourages his classmates to persevere.

Anna Lau-Woodrow – 9th Grade

Anna Lau-Woodrow continues to distinguish herself as a dedicated and well-rounded student. Actively involved in English Language Arts, Knowledge Bowl, and Future Problem Solvers, Anna consistently strives to improve both herself and her teammates. Her Knowledge Bowl team has shown steady growth throughout the season, earning a fifth-place finish at a recent home meet—an accomplishment fueled in part by her determination and resolve.

In Future Problem Solvers, Anna has demonstrated notable academic strength, authoring one of the highest-scoring Underlying Problem Statements in the state during competition. Beyond measurable achievements, she is respected for her leadership, teamwork, and commitment to excellence across all her classes.

Hayden Case – 11th Grade

Hayden Case exemplifies responsibility, focus, and school spirit. In the classroom, he consistently brings his best effort, participates thoughtfully, and maintains respect for both peers and teachers. His commitment to academic growth is evident through improved focus, preparedness, and meaningful engagement in class discussions.

Hayden also contributes positively beyond the classroom. He supports his peers at school sporting events and dedicates time before and after school in the weight room preparing for baseball season. By modeling strong character and adherence to school expectations, Hayden sets a commendable example for others.


February Nominees

Mercydees Bryant – 11th Grade

Mercydees Bryant is recognized for her sustained commitment to academic excellence and personal growth. Over the past two years, she has demonstrated exceptional self-discipline and an engaged approach to learning. Whether mastering challenging mathematical concepts or maintaining focus in a fast-paced history class, Mercydees consistently gives her best effort.

She values her education, uses class time effectively, and extends her learning beyond the classroom. Her collaborative spirit and kindness toward classmates and teachers alike reflect her strong character and promising future.

Spencer Travis – 12th Grade

Spencer Travis brings enthusiasm and a can-do attitude to school each day. Recognized by classmates and staff for both his talent and willingness to help others, Spencer regularly assists in the counseling and career centers when needed.

As graduation approaches, Spencer plans to enlist in the Marine Corps, a testament to his commitment to service and future goals. His positive energy and readiness to contribute have left a meaningful mark on the school community.

Dion Albert – 5th Grade

Since joining the district this year, Dion Albert has approached his transition with resilience and optimism. Adjusting to a new school can be challenging, but Dion’s positive attitude and determination have helped him thrive. He demonstrates perseverance during demanding academic tasks and continues to show impressive growth, particularly in reading.

Dion approaches math intervention time with enthusiasm and contributes meaningfully to the classroom community. Always willing to assist with classroom responsibilities, he has quickly become a valued and respected member of his class.

Jacob Gherbaz – 9th Grade

Jacob Gherbaz has established himself as a hardworking and motivated student who embraces academic challenges. In his freshman English class and across subject areas, he demonstrates a willingness to receive feedback and apply it constructively. His organized, detail-oriented approach supports his success in both math and science.

Balancing athletics with rigorous coursework, Jacob exemplifies discipline and leadership. His determination, politeness, and readiness to learn make him a role model among his peers and a valued member of the school community.

Parker Amdur – 9th Grade

Parker Amdur stands out for his responsibility, respect, and curiosity. He approaches each school day with a strong work ethic and a genuine desire to explore new ideas. Parker’s consistent example positively influences his classmates, reinforcing the importance of diligence and integrity in academic life.

Vicente Cortez – 5th Grade

Vicente Cortez has distinguished himself through perseverance and strength of character. When faced with challenging or complex assignments, he approaches them with determination rather than hesitation. Viewing obstacles as opportunities to learn, Vicente consistently models resilience for his classmates.

His steady focus and willingness to “dive in” set a powerful example, demonstrating that growth often comes from embracing difficulty with confidence and grace.
