Celebration and pride filled the Cle Elum-Roslyn community as the Cle Elum-Roslyn High School girls basketball team captured the WIAA 2B Girls Basketball State Championship with a 49–43 victory over Reardan High School in the title game!
The championship matchup took place Saturday, March 7, at the Spokane Arena, where the Warriors secured the win in front of a strong showing of supporters from the Cle Elum-Roslyn community.
Led by coaches Vince Glondo, Scott Malcolm, and Nikki Dearing, the Warriors completed a season defined by determination, teamwork, and resilience. Throughout the postseason, the team demonstrated composure and consistency as they worked their way through the state tournament bracket to reach the championship game.
Following the win, the community gathered to celebrate the team’s achievement. On March 9, the district hosted a school assembly recognizing the players, coaches, and the season that led to the championship. The celebration continued with a parade through town, where community members lined the streets to welcome the Warriors home and honor their accomplishment.
During the assembly, Athletic Director Hailey Bator reflected on the season and the impact the team had on the school and community.
“This season was about much more than wins and losses,” Bator said. “It was about commitment, growth, toughness, and a group of young women who represented the Warrior name with pride every single day.”
Throughout the year, the Warriors continued to develop as a team, building momentum and confidence as the season progressed. Their performance in the state tournament highlighted their ability to compete under pressure and work together in key moments.
The team’s run through the postseason, combined with strong community support, made the championship season a memorable moment for Cle Elum-Roslyn athletics and the broader community. Way to go Warriors!!
