8th grade students recently took their annual field trip to CWU as part of promoting the CERSD High School and Beyond Plan. While at CWU, students toured the campus, engaged with students and staff, and participated in hands-on science labs, including the planetarium.
Students also interacted with presenters who shared information about various postsecondary education options and what it takes during high school to make those opportunities possible.
This trip was especially timely, as 8th grade students are currently registering for their freshman year and beginning to explore and map out their future pathways.
Thank you to WSMS counselor Amy Dohrman for the many hours spent planning this trip. We also extend our appreciation to 8th grade teachers Anna Kerlee, Taylor Tomich, Tony Butorac, and Laurel Jessop, as well as our parent volunteers, for supporting this experience and continuing to provide valuable opportunities for our students’ futures!
What is the High School and Beyond Plan?
CERSD supports students as they explore college, career, military and workforce pathways. Students can earn 3-5 college credits through select dual credit courses with Yakima Valley College and Wenatchee Valley College, gain industry-recognized credentials such as OSHA-10, Food Handler’s permits and First Aid/CPR certifications, and participate in career workshops, field trips and postsecondary planning activities. Seniors also develop Plan A, B and C options to prepare for life after graduation.
