Earlier this month, on October 2, 2026, members of the Cle Elum-Roslyn High School Prevention Club presented at the Rural Prevention Network Conference in Wenatchee, Washington. Students Kadince Matteson, Faith Dickenson, Hailey Kiser, Aiden Kiser, and Milo Newton joined Jessica Cranefield, Cascade Prevention Coalition Coordinator and Community Prevention Specialist, to present “Youth Voice in Action: Advocacy, Prevention, and Community Change.” Student Assistance Professional Seth Miller was also in attendance to support the students.

During their presentation, students shared how they are making a meaningful difference in their school and community through substance use prevention, youth advocacy, and local policy change. They highlighted their involvement in efforts to restrict kratom sales, advocate for safer community environments, participate in legislative advocacy, and organize positive, substance-free activities for their peers.

The presentation demonstrated the powerful role young people can play in creating lasting community change. These students are not just learning about prevention—they are actively leading it, proving that youth voices matter and that their efforts can influence policies, inspire others, and help build healthier, safer communities.

The Cascade Prevention Coalition and Cle Elum-Roslyn School District are incredibly proud of these students for their leadership, courage, and commitment to making a difference!
