Hello,

I hope this message finds you well and your driveways cleared out! What an incredible start to 2022!

I wanted to give you brief updates on a few things that have occurred this past week and helpful information moving forward.

As many of you know, we experienced a fire to our laundry facility adjacent to our District Office and Swiftwater Learning Center building. While the building was a complete loss, our District Office/Swiftwater Learning Center building was saved, thanks to our vigilant maintenance staff and the dedicated fire teams of Fire District #6, Fire District #7 and the Roslyn Fire Department. However, due to the smoke and water damage, we will be temporarily relocating Swiftwater Learning Center and the District Office for the week of January 10 - 14.

The new location for the District Office will be in the current Technology building, located adjacent to the high school. Office hours will be modified (for the week of 1/10-14) to 9-11am and 12 - 3pm. The number is 509-649-4850. All deliveries to the District Office will be re-routed to the Cle Elum-Roslyn High School office located at 2692 SR 903. If you need to reach special programs or our early learning staff, please call 509-649-4850 extension 4728.

The Swiftwater Learning Center will be relocated to Suncadia Lodge. You can contact the district office for more specific information or if you need to reach a Swiftwater staff member or leave a message at 509-649-4993.

Some of you have asked about our snow make-up days. We will be working closely with our city on a petition to OSPI for two of our snow days to count as non-make-up days due to the snow emergency and the city of Cle Elum and Roslyn’s “proclamation of emergency”. I will keep you posted on what we find out from the state. It’s rather early in our snow season to have three snow days and my concern is that we are not finished with inclement weather, which may impact future delays or school closures.

Tomorrow, January 10, 2022,  we are offering free COVID testing for all families at the high school from 8am-12pm. To access testing call 509-649-4710. Don’t forget, Monday is a non school day for students and a staff on-site work day.

I want to thank many of you for all of your support these past few days, from assisting with snow removal to supporting our families and students. I also want to thank those of you who were able to fill out applications for subbing. It has been inspiring to see so many people willing to help step in to keep our students in-person! While we will continue to track COVID numbers and work to fill vacant positions, we are still accepting applications for positions and for substitutes. Click here to view open positions and/or apply to be a substitute.

Stay warm, stay healthy, and stay hopeful,

Michelle Kuss-Cybula
