This afternoon, the lockdown siren inadvertently was triggered due to a power surge at the Elementary and Middle School buildings. The siren sounded for approximately 15 seconds before it was deactivated. An announcement was immediately made to reassure staff and students that there were no issues in the school. We were impressed with the reaction time of our staff who quickly initiated our protocols. We apologize for any anxiety caused by our students, staff and members of our school community.

Fun was had by all during the Christmas holiday pong game at the high school and the middle school. Students got to bounce a ping pong ball into a cupcake tin. If the ball landed in one of the cups they won a prize, if it didn’t then they could get back in line and try again. Some of the prizes included an extra large slinky, McDonald gift cards, candy canes, boxes of candy and a squishmallow. Thank you to our Community Prevention Specialist, Lonnie Allphin, and our Student Assistance Professional, Cathie Songer, for putting together this fun game for our students!

The Secure and Teach has been lifted for all buildings in the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District per the notification by the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office. We are now allowing students to move throughout their day normally, including between the buildings. Thank you for your patience with this process. Our students did a great job following directions and listening to staff this morning. Counselors are available at each building if students or staff would like support after this stressful situation
